Frequently Asked Questions
Pertaining to all DrainSources (DS) devices
01 Q.Where is the best location to install a DS device ?

A. Every wash sink is a source of waste water. Each sink (that flows into a grease trap) should have a DS (maxi or mini unit) installed directly underneath or as close as possible to any sink, and upstream from all grease interceptors/traps, for maximum results. (See “Installations “page)…
02 Q. Can anyone install a DS device ?

A. Installing a DS device is not very complicate, nonetheless, we recommend certified plumbing professionals who are up to date with city codes & compliances.
03 Q. If I opt to install a DS device myself, what type of plumbing materials must I use ?

A. Again, a qualified plumbing company knows exactly what materials to implement according to city bylaws. Commercial kitchens should always use commercial grade plumbing materials.
04 Q. If I move my operation to a new location, may I take the device(s) and install the unit(s) in my new location ?

A. Absolutely! If you purchased a DS device(s), you may relocate your unit(s) as you wish. If you lease a device(s), consult with your local DS dealer.
05 Q. Why is my sink backing up, and/or slow flowing out ?

A. There may be 2 reasons when this occurs;
1) The filter membrane may be very full… very slowly open the front lid; allow water to drain out before completely removing the front lid. Once water is drained out, remove the full filter membrane, and replace anew.
2) The transparent plastic diffuser inside the back of the unit, may be dislodged out of normal functioning position. Very slowly open the front lid; allow water to drain out before completely unscrewing the front lid. If the diffuser is dislodged, pull the existing filter out of the outlet orifice, and tightly reposition the transparent diffuser buy inserting the short face within the raised slot at the base of the unit, and the longer face within the etched slot on the back wall of the device in front of the outlet opening. In the event a diffuser is missing from the interior of the device, each unit comes with two (2) additional spare parts. Simply position one of the spare diffusers in the same fashion.
Note: a diffuser very rarely dislodges. If this occurs frequently, it is usually due to some form of obstruction in the drain pipes after/behind any DS device, which may require a fishing out of the drain pipes behind the respective unit.
